Meath to take on Oak Leaf County in Newry showdown
The Meath team to take on Derry in this evening's All-Ireland u-20 HC B final at Pairc Esler, Newry, 7.30 has been named with manager Peter Durnin and his selectors sticking with familiar faces.
The only change from the team that started against Down a few weeks ago involves two Trim players with Ian Bermingham replacing club colleague Josh Harris.
The Meath panel for tonight's contest includes a number of players who were part of the Trim set-up for last Sunday's 2020 SHC final against Ratoath.
The county final turned out to be a classic and went to extra-time before Trim prevailed. Dylan Farrell, Bermingham, James Murray and Mikey Cole all started for Trim against Ratoath in the gruelling, physically-demanding contest, and they are pencilled in to start in this evening's game as well.
Meath captain Cian Kelly played for Ratoath in last Sunday's final while Jack Lanigan came on as a substitute and fired over a point. Both also start this evening.
Meath defeated Wicklow and Down on their way to the u-20 final. Against Down in the semi-final Jack Lanigan, Cormac Keyes and Jack Cottrell fired home quality goals as they racked up a 3-18 to 2-12 victory.
Derry have defeated Donegal and Sligo on the way to this evening's showdown and Durnin will be hoping his side can complete a hat-trick of victories in their campaign and claim the Richie McElligott Cup in the splendid Pairc Esler.
