Minister to announce €1.25m upgrade for Navan hospital wards

Some €1.25 million is to be spent on upgrading wards in Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, in the National Health Capital Plan for 2021 which will be announced by the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, in the coming days.

Ward refurbishment will include works to male and female inpatient nightingale wards to provide sub-divisions and WC/shower facilities to improve social distancing and Infection prevention and control.

Local EU Affairs Minister and Meath East TD welcomed the funding announcement having been informed by the Minister for Health.

“This is super news for county Meath and indeed the northeast. This funding seeks to bolster and enhance the patient experience at Our Lady’s Hospital,” he stated.

“Since becoming a TD in 2007, representing the people of Meath both in Government and Opposition I have sought to protect and enhance the services of Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. This capital funding announcement represents the Fianna Fáil commitment to protect this hospital which is a vital cog in delivering healthcare in our county.

In a separate new project, there will be modifications to theatres to make second theatre operational for elective surgery, to free theatres in Mater to deal with Covid-specific and backlog procedures.
