Disruption to Ashbourne water supply for connection works on Tuesday night

Irish Water is working with Meath County Council to improve the water supply for homes and businesses in Ashbourne, with essential works scheduled to take place on Tuesday 13th July in order to support connection works for the new water mains.

These works will be delivered between 10pm on Tuesday and 3am on Wednesday 14th July.

During this time customers in the following locations may experience water outages and/or lower than normal water pressure - Ashbourne Business Park, Ashbourne Industrial Park, Rathcross, Racehill Manor, Brindley Park, Ashewood, Archerstown Wood and surrounding areas.

Irish Water is encouraging customers to conserve water while these essential repairs are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. There are lots more tips on how to conserve water in your home on our website at https://www.water.ie/conservation/

When works are complete it will take up to three hours for normal water supply to return to all customers but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.

Liam Henry, Irish Water said: “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Meath County Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of this work is an essential to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas ensuring a safer more sustainable water supply into the future.

"Irish Water continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.

"The latest updates on these works will be available on the supply and service section of our website https://www.water.ie. The Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 and customers can call us on 1800 278 278. Customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries."
