20th anniversary celebrations for Trim Family Resource Centre

Trim Family Resource Centre has been serving the Trim and south Meath community for 20 years and will celebrate the milestone with an exciting week of activities from 12th to 17th July,

“Trim Family Resource Centre has been a beacon of hope for so many families in the area,” says Justyna Doherty, co-ordinator of the centre.

“The brainchild of the late Danny O’Brien, the Trim Family Resource Centre was established two decades ago to promote social inclusion in the area and provide family support.

“Working initially with young and single parents, supporting families with drug addiction and disability issues, the centre’s work has expanded hugely over the years,” she says.

“From summer camps for local children to supporting those struggling to re-join the workforce; from English conversation classes for new members of our community to running a community garden and Food Bank, Trim FRC has been a beacon of hope for so many families in the Trim and south Meath area.

“Our activities have changed over time but our mission remains the same – to empower families and the community to understand their own needs and identify solutions to the challenges they face.”

Cllr. Ronan Moore, Chair of the Family Resource Centre added: “To celebrate twenty years in the community, we are holding many fun events for children and adults next week. For more information on how to get involved visit our new website: www.trimfamilyresourcecentre.ie or like our Facebook page.”

The centre is managed by volunteers from the community alongside core staff, CE and TUS workers.

It was badly affected during the pandemic with many of their fundraising efforts being cancelled for two years running - including the annual Danny O’Brien Golf Classic.

“We are in great need of support to ensure the vital support we provide to our vibrant community can continue into the future.

“We are asking members of the public to visit our website to find out more about what we do, join in the fun for our 20th birthday and also to make a donation if they can. Any support is hugely appreciated,” says Justyna.
