Drumconrath push Boardsmill all the way

TAILTEANN CUP

Drumconrath traveled the long journey to high flying Boardsmill with the bare 15 players due to a number of injuries and work commitments, but still managed to produce a fine display despite losing out by 0-11 to 1-15 in the Tailteann Cup.

Daniel Byrne (two) and Jamie Myles kept Drumconrath in touch early on as they trailed by 0-3 to 0-5 at the water break, but the concession of a second quarter goal, which was Boardsmill's only score of that period, was setback before Oran Brady and Tomas Conlon replied with points to close the gap to 0-6 to 1-5 at half-time.

After the resumption Conor Meegan, grandson of the great Paddy Meegan, pointed his first score in adult football, but Boardsmill introduced fresh legs and opened up a 1-10 to 0-7 lead by the second water break.

A close final quarter ensued with Brady pointing again as Byrne fired over three more points, but Boardsmill found their range five more times to ease over the winning line.
