Jockey Gary Carroll injured at Naas

Jockey Gary Carroll has experienced the highs and lows of racing in the past seven days ith a Royal Ascot winner last week and a fall this evening at Naas.

Last week, Gary Carroll, a grandson of the late Frankie Carroll from Kildalkey who was a top national hunt jockey in the 1970s, patnered his first Royal Ascot winner.

That success was for Meath trainer Gavin Cromwell in the Queen Mary Stakes with Quick Suzy.

This evening at Naas Gary Carroll sutained a fall before the start from the Ger Lyons-trained Holly Golightly for the 6.30pm race.

He was brought to Naas hospital after receiving assistance at the track - the start of the race was delayed by some 24 minutes.
