OMP's Isaiah Phillips in action against Athboy Celtic.

Doyle's men find form to taste sweet victory

OMP Utd manager David Doyle was a happy man after he watched his side dig out a 2-0 victory over Athboy Celtic in the Kilmessan Shield at St Mary's Park this evening.

Last week his side lost out to Trim Celtic but this time around they tasted victory - their first of the season - with the help of second-half goals from Eoghan Breathnach and Ryan Murphy.

There was no doubt the home side deserved their win as they played some high-tempo football with Isaiah Phillips coming on in the second-half and adding a new dimension to the OMP attack.

Donal Callan, Louis Timmons and David Connolly were among those to go close for OMP over the course of the game.

Athboy Celtic's young side battled bravely with Tommy Quinn, Paddy Griffin and Oisin Driver among those to threaten but they were unable to make the breakthrough.

"It's great to get back playing most of the boys kept themselves ticking over in terms of fitness and I think it showed there tonight," said Doyle.

"We are building a new side and this is only the start," commented Athboy Celtic boss Gary Ennis.
