Harnan hat-trick inspires Moynalvey

With 14 scores each it was goals that proved decisive as Ciaran Harnan bagged a hat-trick to inspire Moynalvey to an impressive 5-9 to 1-13 Feis Cup win over Navan O'Mahonys.

David McLoughlin and Jake Regan traded early points before Moynalvey bagged their first goal in the 10th minute when Darren Brennan beat Colm Honan. Two minutes later Ciaran Harnan opened his account to make it 2-1 to 0-1 and with Jake Regan and Eoin Joyce in fine for O'Mahonys and McLoughlin, Sean Duggan and Cathal McCabe replying for Moynalvey it was the hosts who led by 2-5 to 0-7 at the break.

Joyce narrowed the deficit to three points with a converted free after the break, but that was as good as it got for O'Mahonys as Moynalvey fired three goals in quick succession with Ciaran Harnan completing his treble and Brian O'Reilly making it 5-5 to 0-8 before the water break.

Ronan Clarke and mcLoughlin continued to trade scores before Shaun Deering and Fearghal McCabe closed Moynalvey's account. O'Mahonys goal was a late, late effort from Sean Smyth that was no consolation.

Next up for Moynalvey is a trip to Grangedodden for a round three tie against Gaeil Colmcille next Wednesday 23rd June.
