James Mooney was in good form for Meath Hill

All too easy for Meath Hill

CORN NA BOINNE

For the second successive week Meath Hill registered 1-17 as they overcame understrength Syddan who could only manage 1-5 in the Corn na Boinne at Ludlow Park.

The absence of so many regulars for the hosts handed Meath Hill the initiative and they were never extended as they picked up their second win of the campaign.

Syddan did lead briefly after Gary McManus pounced on a mistake by 'keeper Ryan Shekleton and finished to an unguarded net on six minutes.

Jack Reid then converted a ’45 to give his side a 1-1 to 0-1 lead but that was as good as it got for Syddan who were always struggling to stay in touch.

Mark Tully accounted for four first half points while wing back James Mooney hit two fine scores as the visitors led 0-11 to 1-2 at half-time.

Syddan needed scores at the start of the second half to have a chance but instead it was Meath Hill who continued in the ascendancy with the opening point of the half from Pierce McGrath.

McGrath turned provider for midfielder Ryan Owens to slap the ball to the Syddan net and end proceedings as a contest on 35 minutes.

Mark Tully added another point before Jack Reid converted his second free for Syddan’s opening score of the half.

Michael Fedigan knocked over another free for the home side and their only point from play for the hour came on 57 minutes from substitute Andrew White.
