Cian Carey in the pits at the Le Mans Cup

No joy for Cian Carey - not even a drive

Ratoath driver Cian Carey made his debut in April at the European Michelin Le Mans Cup with Italian outfit TS Corse in Barcelona and today was scheduled for action in the second series at the Le Castellet round in France.

However, the Meath man didn't get a chance to get out on the track as part of the two-driver TS Corse team as the first driver out Pietro Peccenini exited at the first turn.

THE START DETAILS

At the start, the field of 33 cars is led by the Ligier n ° 37 of Antoine Doquin (Cool Racing).

At Turn 1, the No.66 Duqueine of Alexander Mattschull (Rinaldi Racing) overtook the No.5 Ligier of Hamza Owega (Phoenix Racing) to gain second place.

No 73 Duqueine of Pietro Peccenini (TS Corse) came out wide and hit the No 15 Ligier of Michael Benham (RLR MSport).

The No.73 was itself hit by another car, causing damage to the rear and its abandonment after returning to the pit.

With the car out of the race there was nothing except a spectating role for Team TS Corse

"Our race ended on lap 1 after turn 2. Gutted, damage too much to continue so it’s an early shower for me with no driving," commented Carey on his Facebook page.
