Daire O'Leary and Jack Fagan from Kilbride, and Matthew Cully and Arsen Martina from Kildalkey decided during lockdown to take on the gruelling challenge of covering 26 miles each day for three days.

Marathon men raise over €6,000 for Marie Keating Foundation

Four friends who decided to take on three marathons in three days for charity finished their challenge on Sunday afternoon claiming all the aches and pains and blisters to be worth it as they raised a staggering €6,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation.

Daire O'Leary and Jack Fagan from Kilbride, and Matthew Cully and Arsen Martina from Kildalkey decided during lockdown to take on the gruelling challenge of covering 26 miles each day for three days. All four lads are all keen sportsmen - Daire and Jack are dual Dunderry GAA players, Matthew plays hurling for Kildalkey, Arsen plays soccer for Athboy Celtic.

Daire and Arsen are both in their first year in college. Matthew and Jack sitting Leaving Cert. They wanted to thank everyone for all their support especially Bosca, Trim and Siopa agus Caife Rath Chairn for providing refreshments en route. Helping them through the last five kilometres with the lads was Marie Keating's daughter, Linda.
