Temperatures to gradually increase

Weather Update

Weather conditions will remain changeable over the coming days, according to the latest bulletin form Met Éireann. The national weather forecaster says expect some rain and showers at times but also good dry spells. Temperatures will gradually increase as the week goes on.

Rain this morning in the southwest and western fringes will spread across Munster and be heavy at times in the southwest. The rain will become lighter and confined to southwest later in the afternoon. Elsewhere today it will be dry in many areas with well scattered showers and good spells of sunshine. Light to moderate northwest breezes. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, a little cooler in Munster.

Dry and clear for many tonight with isolated showers, and outbreaks of light rain or drizzle in the southwest. Northerly winds will fall near calm, with some mist patches forming. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, less cold in the southwest.

Tuesday night should remain dry for most with just the odd shower, but rain will linger in parts of the southwest through the night. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees under long clear spells, but less cool in the southwest under cloudier conditions. Mist and fog patches will form too in mainly light northwesterly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be dry in many areas with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Mostly cloudy in Munster with light patchy rain in the southwest continuing until the evening.

Some good sunny spells too, the best of which will be in the morning and evening. Feeling rather pleasant with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in light variable breezes.

Cloud will thicken in the southwest on Wednesday night ahead of some further light rain moving in later in the night. Holding dry elsewhere with good clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees under the clearer skies, but milder under cloud cover with light to moderate southeasterly winds developing.

There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Thursday but current indications suggest that it will be a dry and bright to start for much of Ulster and Leinster. However, rain and cloud in Connacht and Munster will gradually extend over the country through the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southeasterly winds.

Thursday night: Rain will continue to track northeastwards with dry and clear conditions following in from the Atlantic. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees in light southerly breezes veering westerly.

Friday will see rain will clear from much of the country during the morning, though it could linger along eastern coastal counties for much of the day. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in mainly light variable breezes. Becoming mostly dry overnight with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

A good deal of dry weather for the weekend. Temperatures continuing to increase with values in the high teens generally.
