One wins and one won't start at Cork for Noel Meade

Trainer Noel Meade had two runners in the apprentice handicap at Cork today and won the race with the one that started.

Despite an absence since last August when finishing down the field at Bellewstown Evergreen And Red took the spoils for jockey Danny Sheehy.

Probably one of the lowest-rated (44) at the trainer's Castletown stables, the now three-year-old won well for the London Racing Partnership.

The Pat Martin-trained El C Wells was a length-and-a-half away in second place.

Meade's other runner - Grey Angel - refused to load into the stalls at the start and was withdrawn
