Four changes from Leinster final loss as new Meath captain unveiled

Andy McEntee announced his first team of 2021 and unveiled a new captain ahead of Meath's NFL Div 2 North clash with Westmeath in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday at 3.45pm.

With joint captains banned by Croke Park, the Meath manager has named his son Shane McEntee to take over the captain's role from Bryan Menton and Donal Keogan.

Manager McEntee has named a strong side for Sunday's league opener and with little room for error in this year's campaign he has focused on experience with a number of newcomers hoping to get their chance from the bench.

With Ronan Jones out for the league after suffering a broken arm, Mark Brennan retired, Shane Walsh injured and David Toner not included on the panel released last week Andy McEntee has brought in Padraic Harnan, Ethan Devine, Darragh Campion and Andy Colgan from the side that lost to Dublin in the Leinster SFC final last November.

There are four new names added to the subs bench with Longwood's Harry Hogan filling the substitute goalkeeper's position and Gaeil Colmcille's Fionn Reilly, Boardsmill's Danny Dixon and O'Mahonys David Dillon also named on the 26 -man panel.
