Vaccination centre planned for Drogheda

The HSE is planning a Central Vaccination Centre in Drogheda Institute of Further Education (DIFE) which would serve East Meath and South Louth.

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital are currently operating from the site.

“We expect to deliver up to 1,500 vaccinations per week to members of the public residing in South Louth and East Meath registered on the Portal. The service is being developed in line with the HSE Vaccination Clinic Operating Model and will be delivered as per the roll out plan,” said a spokesperson.

“We hope to commence later this week however this is subject to staffing levels and vaccine supply. The service will significantly boost the number of vaccines being delivered in Louth and will run in addition to the Dundalk Centre operating from the Fairways in Dundalk.”

“Meanwhile, the Community Vaccination Centre for County Meath, in Simonstown GAA Centre, Navan, is working hard to complete first dose vaccines to all 60/69 year-olds in county Meath who are registered on the national portal.

“We expect to have this cohort finished over next weekend 15th and 16th May.”

He said that anyone in the 60 to 69 cohort who has not yet received an appointment, and who is registered on the Portal, should receive their appointment before the end of this week.

“Once this group is finished we will commence vaccinating the next cohort which is the 55/59 year-olds.”

He said the approximate number of appointments not attended daily is 15per cent.

The Simonstown Vaccination Centre is now operating 12 hour days. From Sunday next , 16th May it will operate seven day weeks.
