Jamie McGrath had reason to celebrate again today.

In-form McGrath hits his 16th goal of the season

Athboy's Jamie McGrath came on as a second-half substitute to hit his 16th goal of the season however his side St Mirren lost 1-2 to Hamiliton Academical in the Scottish Premiership at the SMISA Stadium, Paisley this afternoon.

McGrath wasn't picked in the starting 11 by manager Jim Goodwin who is perhaps keeping him in reserve ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final next week.

St Mirren, who had nothing but pride to play for, fell behind to a goal in the opening half and it stayed 1-0 at the interval.

Hamilton went 2-0 up just after the break and a few minutes later McGrath came on and fired to the net from just inside the box to pull a goal back for the home side however, they were unable to rescue a point.

McGrath is believed to be the subject of considerable interest from a number of clubs said to be interested in signing him including Aberdeen.

St Mirren take on St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on Sunday 9th April, 2.15pm.
