Abacadabras and Jack Kennedy on the mark for Team Cullentra at Aintree today.

Abacadabras wins and Tiger finishes fourth

Denise Foster / Team Cullentra got their three-day Aintree Festival off to a winning start today when Abacadabras and Jack Kennedy landed the Betway Aintree Hurdle at the Liverpool course.

The win made amends for the disappointment of the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham where the Gigginstown-owned Abacadabras fell early on.

Lisa O’Neill, representing Cullentra House stables at Aintree this week, said: “Jack gave Abacadabras a fantastic ride and he’s proved himself at Grade One level.

" I think the step up in trip definitely suited him. It’s fantastic for everyone back home, and Katie who looks after him has done a wonderful job, so full credit to her as well."

The main focus at Aintree today was on Tiger Roll which finished a distant fourth to winner Clan Des Obeaux in the Betway Bowl Chase.

“He’s come home safe and sound and that’s the main thing.

"He’s obviously quite outclassed in that category of a race, so we’ll take him home and see how he is but he looks fine after and that’s the main thing.

"Potentially that’s it for him this season, but we’ll wait and see what Gigginstown want to do.”
