Porter floors the opposition at Cheltenham
Porter is the new tipple out around Danestown this afternoon after the Gavin Cromwell-trained Flooring Porter left the opposition legless with late replacement jockey Danny Mullins on board.
The Cromwell-trained Flooring Porter fairly turned up the heat from the front as the field headed for the last three hurdles and just skated away from the opposition to win the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle.
It was another one of those emotional occasions as regular jockey Jonathan Moore was on lead-up duty after he stood himself down from the ride this morning.
Moore was on board Ujumpthelastuwin which fell at the second last at Naas on Sunday and Moore explained in a brief post-race interview that he didn't feel he could do the horse justice and had suggested that Danny Mullins would be the man for the job.
In the same interview Mullins was thrilled with the win but also highlighted the contribution of Moore and the rest of the Gavin Cromwell team to the victory.
"Jonathan gave me all the information I needed and deserves so much credit for this," stated Mullins.
"I feel so sorry for Johnny, he rode out this morning and said he was still feeling sore and wouldn't do the horse justice," stated trainer Gavin Cromwell adding that it was great to get another Cheltenham winner on the board.
Flooring Porter had won five previous races and Moore was on board for each one, missing out today on the big one.
