Graham Geraghty continues on the road to recovery

Gordon Manning writing in the Irish Sun today has an exclusive with legendary Meath footballer Graham Geraghty who is recovering from a life-threatening brian aneurysm.

The rate of the recovery is remarkable and a tribute to the true grit and determination that has been a hallmark of Graham Geraghty throughout his inter-county and club football career.

Last week he managed to go out jogging accompanied by his son Barndon.

It represented another step forward in his recovery less than five months since the man who captained Meath to the 1999 All-Ireland title suffered that brain aneurysm that almost cost him his life at the end of October last year.

The former Seneschalstown and Clann na nGael player became ill at work and was brought to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan before he was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin the next day.

The father of four won two All-Ireland SFC titles with Meath along with two Allstar awards and three Leinster SFC titles.

He also played for Ireland in the International Rules series between 1999 and 2006.

Last January there was a new role for Graham Geraghty when two-time All-Ireland SFC winner and Meath u-20 manager Bernard Flynn named him as a selector on the Meath u-20 team for this year.
