Foster care on the cards for Cullentra House

Last Friday night trainer Denise Foster made it into the number one spot at Dundalk with three-year-old Swiss Swoo which had run for the first time a couple of weeks earlier.

Roll on seven days and the landsacpe could be about to change in the short-term for the Enfield-based trainer due to the IHRB ban that was imposed today on Summerhill man and Longwood-based trainer Gordon Elliott.

It is anticipated that Denise Foster will take the reins for the duration of the Elliott ban.

Provided the 'paperwork' is completed by Tuesday (9th March) all the remaining Elliott Cheltenham entries will have the green light for the Festival

Denise Foster's next runner is at Leopardstown on Sunday in a mares' handicap hurdle when Dragon's Pass is set to face 16 other rivals.

Of her winner Swiss Swoo on the flat last week she commented:

“He's for sale and that'll do no harm, the plan before tonight was to go for a mile maiden in two weeks time, as he really wants a mile."

There is likely to be a lot more demands for media interviews with the woman whose late husband was Captain David Foster who competed at three Olympic Games for Ireland.

He was fatally injured in a fall in 1998 when taking part in a cross country event at Rathmolyon (near Enfield).
