Photographer trying to capture the true meaning of love

A LOCAL photographer says she decided to create a Valentine's Day photo doorstep project to document what love means to families in lockdown.

Marta Nash, who has been documenting Covid with her camera for the past year, decided to continue with her #frontstepproject, this time in collaboration with a creative writing enthusiast Asta Jones.

Both women during this lockdown found human resilience and the ability to empower each other and came up with a sequence for project - "Love is..”

While having an inspirational chat, an idea arose and Marta Nash decided to continue her photography project but this time focusing on what LOVE meant to people. Marta said:

“The idea of the project arose during the first pandemic lockdown. There was fear, silence and isolation in town. People were home bound and I wanted to bring a little joy, give people something to talk about and get excited about, so I decided to take family photos on their doorstep.

“The fear factor isn’t as strong as during the first lockdown but restrictions are still upon us and I think many people feel frustrated and I can tell people aren’t focused and the spirit of Valentine’s Day has faded so I challenged the families to come up with their own interpretation of what love is to them.”

With Valentine's day approaching- the creative duo are calling on families who would like to take part to come up with ideas how to show what love is for them, whether that is a favourite book, a good cup of coffee, bake or a painting, doing dance, perhaps learning something and allow them to document it for you.

This time around no charity has been picked, however due to many small local business being forced to close, Marta Nash asks everyone to support our local businesses in return.
