Motorist in Ashbourne has car seized after crude attempt at doctoring tax and NCT discs

A driver who fled from a covid checkpoint in Ashbourne displaying fake tax, insurance and NCT discs had their vehicle seized by Gardai earlier today.

The crude attempt to alter the date on the discs with a black marker can be seen in a photo uploaded on the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page.

It was discovered that the driver was also on a non essential journey.

The post on The Meath Crime Prevention page reads:

“Whilst Ashbourne Gardaí were conducting a Covid checkpoint this morning, this car was observed turning away from the checkpoint.

“Vehicle was followed and subsequently seized by Gardaí. Prosecution to follow. Driver was also on a non-essential journey.”
