Lynam winner at Dundalk the norm almost

A Lynam-trained winner at Dundalk is almost the norm now in 2021, but this evening at the Louth track it was the turn of Eddie, father of Sarah who already has five winners at the Louth track in January, to grab a piece of the limelight.

Masalai, owned by the trainer's wife Aileen, has some great form at Dundalk but hadn't won since October 2019.

All that changed this evening when jockey Conor Hoban got the seven-year-old home by a neck from another well-known racing family, Colin and Gerry Keane from Trim who had Ranger Bob in the runner-up slot.

“I’m living in the same house as a trainer (daughter Sarah) who has already had five winners this year, so I had to get one to stay in the ballpark," remarked Lynam senior.

Colin Keane did manager to get a winner on the board when he scored with Top Line Tommy in a handicap on the jockey's first outing for trainer Edward O’Grady.

Moynalty man Declan McDonogh kept the Meath flag flying when landing a maiden with Shackleton Hero for trainer Joseph O'Brien.
