Flynn expected to be named new u-20s boss

Two-time All-Ireland SFC winner Bernard Flynn is expected to be named the new Meath u-20 football manager at next Monday night's adjourned Co Board convention with Graham Geraghty sensationally expected to be part of the management set-up along with Mayo Ladies manager Peter Leahy.

After a period of almost 10 months without a manager since Ger Robinson's term ended with defeat to Dublin in the Leinster u-20 FC semi-final last February, Meath Co Board held interviews over the past couple of days with Flynn sitting down with the board on Monday night.

The appointment still has to be ratified at the next meeting of the Co Board which will be the adjourned convention next Monday night, but it is believed Flynn has put together an exciting backroom team to work with the nucleus of players who won the Leinster MFC title in 2018.

Geraghty's involvement in the management team comes just over two months after he suffered a life threatening brain haemorrhage on 27th October last for which he required major surgery at Beaumont Hospital and has been recovering from at home since.

Leahy, who is a close friend of Flynn in Mullingar, is expected to bring his extensive defensive expertise to the u-20 management and more details are due to be revealed at next Monday night's meeting.
