Porter and Jonathan Moore flooring the opposition at Navan in early December

Moore Porter for Jonathan

Navan winner Flooring Porter landed a Grade 1 contest today at Leopardstown for trainer Gavin Cromwell and jockey Jonathan Moore.

Three weeks ago the Cromwell-trained bargain buy (cost around €5,000) landed the three-mile eCOMM Merchant Solutions H'cap Hurdle (Grade B) worth €90,000 at Navan.

That was Moore's the fourth time to win with Flooring Porter and today it was a fifth success as the rapidly improving five-year-old stormed home in the €100,000 Christmas Hurdle, also over three miles.

The first win was at Bellewstown in a maiden hurdle in August 2019, but now the prospects of a trip to Cheltenham next March is on the radar.

Trainer Gordon Elliott had the next three home in the Grade 1 today with the Storyteller in second, Sire Du Berlais in third and Fury Road in fourth.

LIMERICK

The Elliott-trained Farouk D'alene prevailed in the Grade 2 hurdle at Limerick today despite the testing conditions.

Racing resumed at the Munster track after yesterday's action was postponed due to the conditions.

Jockey Jody McGarvey completed a double when he deputised for Keith Donoghue who was in action at Leopardstown today, but had been due to partner the Elliott-trained winner in the race that was originally scheduled for yesterday.

Following that race (second on the card), there were five withdrawals from later races.

Three Noel Meade runners, one from Tony Martin and one from Gordon Elliott, due to the ground conditions.
