Trainer Tom Gibney on the mark at Dundalk yesterday

Meath theme in Dundalk winners' enclosure

There was a strong Meath theme in the winners' enclosure at Dundalk yesterday with five winners making the journey from the Royal County.

Irish Grand National-winning trainer Tom Gibney maintained his good strike-rate with his third winner in a week when Hannon won for the second time since making the move from John McConnell.

Gary Carroll was on board the winner which completed a double for owner Derek Kierans who had won the previous race with the McConnell-trained Make The Switch.

Sam Ewing had the winning ride on that and he also completed a double when partnering the Matthew Smith-trained Irish Poseidon to victory.

Owned by a Navan syndicate Irish Poseidon was winning for the third time in a month - Ewing was the man on board each time.

The Sarah Lynam-trained Juyush carried top-weight to victory in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Apprentice Rated Race.

Gormanston-based James McAuley won the last with Farnese.

ROBBIE POWER

Robbie Power may be based in the UK now on a temporary basis, but he still manages to reel in the Irish-trained winners and yesterday partnered Magic Of Light to victory in the Pertemps Network Mares Chase Newbury.

The Jessica Harrington-trained mare was runner-up to Tiger Roll in the last Aintree Grand national (2019) and that race remains the target for 2021.
