Letters to the Editor: Lockdown parcels for Local Link users

(Editor, Meath Chronicle)

Dear sir - I am writing from Flexibus Local Link Louth Meath Fingal. We work with the National Transport Authority operating Local Link services in Louth, Meath and Fingal.

Over the summer in the depths of the lockdown, we put goodie packs/treat bags/ summer bags packs together and delivered them out to our passengers in the three areas.

Over the last week of October, and first two weeks of November, we delivered out an additional 1,000 bags. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who assisted in the making of the bags, and all those who donated product, or gave product at a very reduced rate.

These bags have gone to passengers of the Local Link services throughout Louth, Meath and Fingal. Our passengers who are a little more isolated during level 5, and unable to see their friends and neighbours from the bus as a result of the pandemic.

Our contributors include Fingal County Council, Louth County Council, Meath County Council, LIR Chocolate, Listoke Distillery (for sanitiser), O’Briens Super Valu in Kells, Penneys Navan, Masks for Cavan, Masks for Meath, Masks for Louth, The Meath Chronicle, Conaty Catering Navan, Flexibus Staff, Maura & Pat, The Handmade Soap Company (Slane).

Also on offer with the treat packs were books, CDs and DVDs donated by passengers and Flexibus staff. We hope to do another bag drop in late January, early February. If anyone would like to join with us to source product for the spring packs it would be greatly appreciated.

We would like to appeal to people who may have books and CDs that can be redistributed to get on contact with us (books must be in good condition). We will collect if you call us on (046) 907 4830.

Yours,

Miriam McKenna

Manager, Flexibus Meath.
