Concern over wall collapse near Slane bridge

A partial wall collapse on the approach to Slane bridge on the N2 has caused major concern to Slane councillor Wayne Harding. He said:

" This is very worrying, large boulders spilled out unto the N2 just 400 metres from Slane bridge on the Dublin approach to Slane village. Locals made the road passable by clearing the rocks to one side."

Cllr Harding said that Meath County Council will make further assessments of the wall and put in temporary safety measures.

"This was a very lucky escape and also a large length of the wall looks equally vulnerable.

"I am not an engineer but it is not hard to see that this is very dangerous and on very busy part of the N2 and will considering the complexities of where it is will not be easily fixed". Harding concluded by saying.
