Cawley on the mark at Fairyhouse

The amateur riders were in action today across the eight-race Fairyhouse card with winners on the board for local trainers Eddie Cawley and Gavin Cromwell.

Cathal McCormack partnered the Cawley-trained Mystic Embarr to a first victory since winning at the track in 2018 when trained by David Broad.

Today the nine-year-old won a qualified riders' handicap hurdle by a comfortable seven lengths.

“I said we’d give this a go and give Cathal a spin on him as he works in the yard for me, he didn’t do anything wrong,” commented Cawley

Teenager Joey Dunne partnered his first winner when he got the Cromwell-trained Delirious Love home in front, also in a qualified riders handicap hurdle.

The Irish-bred eight-year-old was campaigned in England until January of this year, but only managed a few placed efforts.

This was only a third outing since joining the Cromwell team and the first win was achieved with almost two lengths to spare.
