Ballivor singer through to finals in UK TV talent competition
A young singer from Ballivor is taking the UK music scene by storm having been selected to compete in a race to become part of the next big global group on a new TV talent show.
Tamara Salmon (20) IS flying the flag for Ireland as X Factor superstars Little Mix hunt for the next hit band on their BBC series ‘Little Mix the Search.’
The talented singer has reached the final stages with her band ‘Nostalia’ and are gearing up for their second live performances this weekend battling it out with five other bands.
The winners will accompany pop stars Little Mix on their upcoming tour.
Performing is in the blood for Tamara, a former student of Scoil Mhuire and member of Gluais in Trim with her mum Miranda, also a singer and musician running a stage school in the town for many years as well her dad PJ and grandfather also involved in music according to mum Miranda Thornton who said:
“Tamara is on cloud nine, this is a dream come true for her and it has given her home village of Ballivor a real boost.
“Last week was the first live show which went really well. She is over in London at the moment living in a house with the other band members.
“She has been singing all her life, I had a stage school in Trim called Pop Star Stage School so it’s in her blood, her whole life she has been geared towards this.”
Proud Miranda also mum to Selina (18) explains how it all happened:
“She has a big following on Instagram and she got a message from the production team, she went up to Dublin and did a showcase and was called to Manchester and London for more auditions prior to covid.
“She went in front of the judges and she got through to the band.
“The whole idea is to select a band that will support Little Mix on their tour next year.
“There are only five bands left in it now and only two more live shows to go so we are keeping our fingers crossed.
“We are all really proud of her for flying the flag for Ireland.”
Little Mix: The Search is on BBC One at 6.10pm on Saturday.
