Testing delay concern after mother's week long delay for result

Concern has been expressed about the delay in getting results of tests for Covid-19, as one Trim mother says her son's results for a test done on 29th September have not come back.

Danielle Walsh said they had all been isolating, she got no clarification and didn't know what to do.

“My two children had a temperature and a cough and I contacted my local GP who referred my eldest for a test.

“It was done at 9.05am on 29th September and I have heard nothing since,” she said.

“We were all isolating. The children's temperatures were going up and down. If they had got sicker, I couldn't bring them to the doctor. I didn't know what to do. It was very worrying because they both have seasonal asthma and my son has a genetic heart defect.”

"I kept ringing the HSE but never got a result."

A spokesperson for the HSE said: "The HSE do not comment on individual cases. The advice to somebody waiting over 72 hours is to contact HSE Live."

Today, Wednesday 14th October, Danielle still hadn't received a result for her son.
