Meath men help Dundalk to Europa League Group phase

Gary Rogers had to show his quality at the Aviva Stadium tonight with a number of crucial saves as he helped Dundalk into the group phase of the Europa League for the second time.

Dundalk won 3-1 against the team from the Faroe Islands, Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag (KI) in the play-off round of the Europa League with a place in the Group phase the reward and an initial financial boost of almost €3,000,000 for the club from the Wee County.

Helping the Louth side tonight on the pitch were Meath Men Gary Rogers, Greg Sloggett and also a member of the panel is Jimmy Corcoran.

Following this win Dundalk now have a fixtures schedule of 10 games from Sunday 4th October to Thursday 5th November (see below)

It's likely that some League games will be rescheduled and that the final round of fixtures will move from Friday 30th October to Sunday 1st November.

Points in the League are crucial also for Dundalk to qualify for Europe again next season and they currently sit in fifth position with games in hand on the all the teams above them.

The draws for the Groups will take place tomorrow at 12 pm Irish time in Nyon, Switzerland.

There will be 48 teams in this phase and they will be in 12 groups of four teams each.

The teams will be split into one, two, three and four seedings that are determined by UEFA's club co-efficient rankings.
