Boardsmill do enough to negotiate Kilskyre / Moylagh

Boardsmill remain on track for a quick return to the senior ranks following this 2-16 to 0-11 IHC semi-final victory against Kilskyre / Moylagh at Pairc Tailteann this evening.

This wasn't an outstanding display by the Boardsmill men, but they did enough to negotiate determined opposition.

However, they will face a much sterner test in the decider when thay tackle a Wolfe Tones side that was impressive in Saturday's semi-final victory against Trim's second team.

Kilskyre / Moylagh started brightly with an early point from a Dereck Muldoon free, but they didn't score again until the 17th minute when Sean Geraghty opened their account from play.

At that stage they trailed by six points (0-2 to 1-5) after Boardsmill dominated the opening quarter with three Donal Flattery points (two frees), a Danny Dixon goal and a point each by Steven Gibbons and Fergal Flattery.

Kilskyre / Moylagh improved substantially after the water break and buoyed by that point from play, they got into the game.

Two more Muldoon points (one free) and one apiece by Emmett Hallinan and Michael Geraghty gave them a much-needed boost although they trailed by 0-6 to 1-7 at the interval.

Boardsmill were on the defensive for most of that second-quarter with a paltry return on the scoreboard, a point each by Liam O'Brien (free) and Donal Flattery, while goalkeeper Mark Hatton also made a good save close to the interval.

Boardsmill introduced Evan Dixon for the second-half and he made a big impact apart form the brace of third-quarter points that eased his side into a comfort zone.

O'Brien converted a '65' while Donal Flattery and Gibbons also sent over and those scores compensated somewhat for a lot of sloopy play and poor passing.

Hatton also had to make another save, this time he denied Hallinan a goal as Kilskyre / Moylagh stayed in touch with points from Michael Geraghty, Ronan McGuinness and Muldoon (free).

Fergal Flattery's goal for Boardsmill after the second water break put the issue beyond any doubt with the extra points from Donal Flattery, substitute Ray Hatton, Fergal Flattery and Niall Durkan.

Fading Kilskyre / Moylagh managed further points from Sean Geraghty (free) and Michael Geraghty.
