Six new Meath Covid-19 cases

A total of six new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Meath in the past 48 hours bringing the total number for the county up to 884.

Health officials have reported 93 new case of the virus nationwide this evening and no new deaths.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Republic of Ireland to 28,453. The total number of deaths now stands at 1,777.

Meanwhile, there were 69 new cases reported by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland earlier today, bringing the total number of cases there to 6,964.

There has also been one Covid-related death reported, bringing the total to 560.

Earlier the Department of Health said that the coronavirus R number is between 1.0 and 1.6.

The latest figures from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control show that Ireland's 14-day incidence of cases per 100,000 people stands at 31.1.

This day last week the 14-day incidence of cases stood at 25.4.
