Michael Mulvany in winning form at Bellewstown

Slowly away isn't the best policy over five furlongs anywhere, but particularly at Bellewstown where it isn't actually a straight five.

However, that didn't stop the MIchael Mulvany-trained The Blue Panther from registering a first racecourse win today at the hillside track.

The Tara Stud Nursery Handicap was the target for the Mulvany runner and after finishing in the frame in the first three starts this was an overdue success.

MUlvany doesn't wrap them in cotton wool and the Panther was seventh of 20 to Sweet Gardenia at Naas on Sunday.

Today, sent off 7/5 favourite with Gary Carroll on board and was slowly away and urged on from two furlongs out.

The Blue Panther hit the front inside the final furlong to win well.

Mulvany has two runners at Bellewstown tomorrow.
