Dunboyne pushed all the way by O'Mahonys

Dunboyne salvaged a hard-earned 2-17 to 0-14 SHC Group B2 victory over Navan O'Mahonys at Pairc Tailteann this evening.

This was a competitive and tight contest until the three-quarter stage at which point Dunboyne eased into towards a comfortable-looking victory and were boosted by a late Darragh Gilmartin goal that added some extra gloss to the performance.

The O'Mahonys players were battling for survival in the senior grade and can still stay up, but they now face a relegation play-off against the bottom team from Group B1 and at the moment that is one of Clann na nGael, Kilmessan or Blackhall Gaels.

That picture will become a little clearer after tomorrow's joust between Kilmessan and Blackhall Gaels.

This evening in Pairc Tailteann the O'Mahonys were ahead by 0-10 to 0-7 at the interval and were well worth that three-point wind-assisted advantage.

Dunboyne had it back to parity within three minutes of the resumption and it got worse for O'Mahonys when full-back Richie Hogan limped out of the action in the 35th minute.

When Niall Smyth netted in the 43rd mionute it gave Dunboyne the platform for victory.
