Black Bush fundraiser for Gary Kelly Centre

Black Bush Golf Club will host the annual inter-county open four-person team competition on the earlier date this year of Sunday 23rd August in aid of the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.

This year the event is taking place earlier than usual and was launched at the clubhouse on Friday evening after the weekly social golf.

The timesheet is already packed with teams and the competition regularly attracts golfers from all counties.

At the launch, Ann Treacy of the Gary Kelly Centre spoke of the difficulties continuing to deliver full services and acknowledged the continued support of Black Bush Golf Club with the annual competition.

"The funds raised through this event contributes greatly to financing the cost of therapists and overheads at the centre," she said.

Black Bush captain James Maguire said the club was delighted to host the event again this year and encouraged all members to participate.

"As with covid restrictions, there will be reduced sponsorship and events to support the fundraising effort," he remarked.

"Funds will only be raised through competition entries," he added.

Event organiser Gerry Flanagan said that he was sure the event would have the full support of members with an already very busy timesheet.

"There are still spaces available and we are looking forward to a great day, the entry fee is €120 per four-person team and county colours will be worn on the day," said Flanagan.

The winning county will receive the much coveted ‘Well-being trophy’ but there will be other prizes up for winning including special lady’s team prizes.

Non-county teams are welcome to enter and the competition is also open to visitors.
