Classic Colin seals Siskin victory

Trim jockey Colin Keane was simply superb on Siskin to win the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh this evening.

The unbeaten colt made it five in-a-row and a first Classic for Kiltale-based trainer Ger Lyons.

It was a challenging test for the Glenburnie team as they tackled Team Ballydoyle's six shooters, but ice-cool Keane displayed his class to negotiate the traffic and take the spoils.

It was an emotional occasion for Ger Lyons who was full of praise for Colin Keane as he celebrated his first Classic victory.

Siskin is now unbeaten in five starts and won a Group 1 as a juvenile when landing the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs at the Kildare track last year as well as the Group 2 Railway Stakes.

Siskin also won the Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh and a first-time-out win in May 2019 at Naas - a Kildare specialist almost.
