Gowran double for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane

One winner yesterday at Navan and two today at Gowran Park demonstrates that the Gelnburnie horses are in good form ahead of the 2,000 Guineas bid tomorrow evening at the Curragh with Siskin.

Maker Of Kings and Bucky Larson completed a Kilkenny double for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane today.

Maker Of Kings was placed four times last year as a two-year-old when trained by Gordon Elliott and was having a first start today for Ger Lyons since moving from Longwood to Kiltale.

Perhaps the air around Kiltale is more conducive to winning performances than the air around Longwood - just ask the hurlers from each club?

However, back to racing matters, Maker Of Kings made no mistake in the Kilkenny air and won the seven-furlong event impressively.

The double was completed when Bucky Larson took the spoils in a tight finish ahead of dead-heating for second, Tommy Taylor and Royal Highness.

Tomorrow’s Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh has 11 runners, six trained by Aidan O'Brien, but the Lyons-trained Siskin is the favourite at this stage.

The race is due off at 6.40pm and live on RTE.
