Upgrade plan for Old Johnstown Village welcomed

A REJUVENATED streetscape, drainage and footpath works are on the cards for Old Johnstown Village.

Local residents have been highlighting problems with a culvert in the village, poor roads and footpaths for years, but plans are in train to resolve the issues.

Cllr Eddie Fennessy was invited to walk Johnstown Village with local residents recently to see the problems with a culvert in the road outside the shop, the poor road surfaces, decaying footpaths and kerbs and a pedestrian crossing that he said was positioned dangerously on the main junction in the village.

“I approached Meath Co Council afterwards and lobbied for improvements to these issues. The council is aware of the problems faced by motorists and pedestrians accessing the village and plans are in train to address those issues.”
