Stephen McNally will cycle 300km but won't leave his front room!

Cyclists saddle up for charity

Dunboyne man Stephen McNally is getting on his bike to raise funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association but won't be travelling too far.

Stephen is planning a 12-hour indoor bike ride on Sunday 3rd May, from 7am to 7pm at home, on his indoor cycling trainer, and hopes to ride approximately 300km.

Stephen chose the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association charity as its close to his family since an aunt of his was diagnosed with MND last May.

"Since her initial diagnosis, she has received incredible support from the IMNDA, from regular home visits, help and guidance with respect to living with MND, financial support for any required home adaptations. They also worked closely with the HSE to ensure the required level of nursing support was available etc.

"As a small organisation, the IMNDA depends heavily on fundraising and donations which make up 86% of their income. The current Covid-19 situation has had a major impact on the their ability to fundraise, with so many fundraising activities, and charity events having to be cancelled or postponed. All funds I raise will go directly to this great cause."
