POEM: Virginia man's ode to Covid-19

LOCKDOWN by David Sammon, Virginia

Covid-19, the Coronavirus,
Don’t touch your mouth, nose or even your iris.

People gathered in their masses,
To buy paper for their asses.

Increase in flu turns into Pandemic,
People testing becomes systemic.

We are living in unique times,
Obey the establishment and all the signs.

The constant call for self isolation,
As scientists search for the perfect vaccination.

Panic buying leads to hysteria
As older people are led to feel inferior.

Businesses schools and universities
Are asked to close down in the face of adversity.

People losing hope as they remain indoors,
As some break down on all their fours.

Humanity is comprimised, many lose faith,
As the world declines into an erroneous state.

Nobody has seen such a time before,
Watching too much tv and reading books galore.

Don’t shake hands social distancing is required,
Some are let go from their jobs while others are fired.

A prayer to St Patrick he’ll keep the viral snakes away.
The government are offering concessions regarding health and weekly pay.

Countries and borders shut down one and all,
Even Mexico have requested that Trump finish building the wall.

Boris Johnson across the Irish sea is in complete denial,
A little bit grotesque and even somewhat vile

Lets use this time to pause and value others,
Have respect care and dignity for all our sisters and brothers

We ask for divine inspiration to put an end to such a disease,
As we begin our little prayer with a simple word such as please.
