Bohermeen athlete Rose Finnegan

Meath athletes prominent at Indoor University T&F

Bohermeen AC's Rose Finnegan, representing UCD, showed her great talent once again as she won the 1,500m at the Indoor University Track and Field Championships

The real story began six days earlier when Finnegan was competing in the AAI Championships 1,500m at Abbotstown.

Running in the last event on that programme, the Bohermeen athlete appeared to be going well and drifted from the front and walked off the track before the final lap with appearances that her season was in trouble.

However, on Sunday in Athlone, she took the gold medal in the 1,500m to remind everyone of her quality as an athlete,

Just a few years ago she missed qualifying for the European u-20 800m final by a fraction of a second.

Cushinstown AC's Zoe Mohan and Donal Kearns competed in the Indoor University Track and Field Championships winning gold medals following strunning displays.

Mohan, who represented DCU, won the women’s 8kg weight for distance with a throw of 8.25m, while Kearns, representing TCD, won the men’s combined events comprising of the 60m hurdles, 1000m, long jump, high jump, and shot putt, with a total of 2678 points.
