Morland shows good form

Meath athlete Elizabeth Morland had a good outing at the Athlone Grand Prix last night where she won the Senior Women's long jump.

Morland achieved a jump of 5.70 and that was good enough to take first place at the prestigious event.

It completed a hectic few days for the Meath woman who had competed at the International Combined events in Tallin, Estonia at the weekend.

There, she finished seventh in a strong field of European athletes and came away with a personal best of 4,169 points from the penatathlon.

She ran 8.55 seconds for the 60m hurdles and 2.22 minutes for the 800m.

The Meath woman also threw 12.35m in the shot and managed 1.72m in the high jump and 5.88m in the long jump.

Her points total was 128 points more than her previous PB.
