Top weight Tiger still to qualify

The Gordon Elliott-trained Tiger Roll and Delta Work have been allotted top weight of 11st 10lb each for the 2020 Randox Health Grand National at Aintree on Saturday 4th April.

The weights were revealed today for the £1,000,000 world's richest jump race. This will be the 173rd running with the off set for 5.15pm on day three of the Aintree Festival.

Tiger Roll is aiming to emulate the legendary Red Rum as a three-time winner and the first to make it three-in-a-row, but expect plenty of commentary from Gigginstown about 'will he or won't he run' over the next few weeks..

The now 10-year-old Tiger Roll had an official rating of 150 in the 2018 race and 159 last year and now up to 170.

"Tiger Roll has also not yet qualified for this year's Grand National. Whilst he may run in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan on Sunday he still has to run in a chase to qualify," stated British Horseracing Authority chase handicapper Martin Greenwood today at the announcement of the weights.

Gordon Elliott has 18 entries as he chases a record-equalling fourth Grand National.

Meath trainers Tony Martin Anibale Fly (11-2) and Noel Meade (Tous Est Permis 10-9) also have horses entered in the big race.

Before all that, Tiger Roll is due to run at Navan in the Boyne Hurdleon Sunday  - it could be a last outing in Ireland.
