Meath farmers on way to beef price protest

As farmers from all over the country plan a "tractorcade" protest in Dublin today, a large number of tractors have been making their way from Meath to the capital.

In the last ten minutes up to 15 vehicles drove through Navan on their way to the protest which is expected to cause widespread traffic disruption.

Farmers are planning to bring 400 tractors into the city centre in a protest over beef prices.

The protest is due to begin at 2pm but there will be road closures from 10am on Kildare Street, Molesworth Street, St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square.

Kevin Street traffic will also be affected.

Delays are expected on some of the main routes into the city, including the N2, N3, N4, N7 and N81, from midday.

Bus corridors will not be impacted and Gardaí are advising commuters to avail of public transport where possible.

Gardaí are continuing to liaise closely with those organising the protest and traffic updates will be provided on the @gardatraffic Twitter account.
