Night of Trim Tranquility with Phil Coulter

Phil Coulter takes to the stage at Trim Castle Hotel this Friday night, 8th November, at 8pm.

It is 35 years since the country fell under the spell of 'Tranquility', the lush sound of Phil Coulter, his piano and orchestra.   It was not that Irish melodies had never been recorded before, but this was different.   He somehow managed to make these timeless songs sound fresh.  ‘Classic Tranquility’ struck a chord with the Irish people and in a few short months became the biggest selling album ever in the Irish record industry.  The follow up , ‘Sea of Tranquility’ even managed to outsell Classic and a phenomenon took flight!

The Tranquility series went on to reach a global audience, now aided and abetted by Phil’s international touring. Over the years the brand has developed and flourished.   The albums went on to feature guest performers from James Galway to Liam Neeson and even notched up a Grammy nomination for ‘Highland Cathedral’

The live shows played to sell out audiences from Carnegie Hall to the Nobel Peace Awards and Phil’s stature was recognised by several invitation to the White House.

Some 35 years on he is still as creative and as busy as ever.   This autumn/winter will see the release of a new album ‘Return to Tranquility’, alongside a nationwide tour and a TV documentary airing over Christmas. Oh! – he also found time to complete his memoir ‘Bruised Never Broken’, due out in October.
