Bohermeen AC 50th anniversary night
Bohermeen Athletic Club celebrated a 50th anniversary at the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan on Sunday night where the achievements of young athlete Kevin McGrath were recognised.
MC Peter Finnegan regaled the guests on a night when those who were present recalled the events since that first committee was elected in 1969 following a meeting in the local school where Liam Brady was the club's first chairman.
Brady was present on Sunday night and was recognised for his contribution along with many other stalwarts of the club, including current chairman Stephen Ball who was one of five people recognised for outstanding service.

The others in that category were Sheila Mallon, John Hogan, Colm Rennicks and Patricia Fox.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE PRESENTATION

However, the most prestigious award was presented to McGrath who was selected as the recipient of the most outstanding performance by an athlete from the club in the past 50 years.
McGrath won gold for Ireland at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi in Georgia in the final of the 1,500 metres in 2015
He made it into the final with a third place finish in qualifying (4m:06s) behind the winner from Serbia 4m:03s and an athlete from Switzerland.

McGrath had already run 3m:50.33s for the 1,500 metres in London and had also won a medal at the Schools International Athletic Board event in Scotland in the 800m.
The victory in Tbilisi was achieved in sweltering conditions of over 30 degrees and McGrath won the title in a blanket finish.
