Thrilling start to Joe Reilly Memorial

The Navan & District Darts Joe Reilly Memorial Cup got underway last weekend at the home of last season's champions The Lantern where Lynch's of Slane took on Teach na Teamrach in what proved to be a thrilling preliminary round clash.
With all games double start/double finish best of five it was Lynch's Tommy Collins against Teach na Teamrach's Patrick Darby in game one with Darby taking advantage of Collins's double troubles to claim a 3-1 win.
In game two Teach na Teamrach's Sean Carry started of well and took the first leg, but then the next two legs went away from him with Lynch's Mickey Wall edging 2-1 ahead with a 150 checkout. However in a thrilling finish Carry won the last two games to seal a 3-2 win.
Lynch's Ambrose Curran got the better of Teach na Teamrach's Chris Moffat by 3-1, while game four Lynch's Darren Trainor beat Noel Dowdall 3-1 to put Lynch's in control.
It all came down to the deciding game five with Teach Na Teamhrach's Mark Carolan proving marginally too strong for Lynch's John McKeown by 3-1 to wrap up the win for the Navan side.
Elsewhere, in the Round O Tara Na Ri found the Foundry too hot to handle.
