Ciara Smyth

Smyth and McGuirk honoured

Following a hugely successful year that saw Meath claim the Leinster u-16 A FC crown and reach the All-Ireland final Skryne's Ciara Smyth was announced as Leinster LGFA Young Player-of-the-Year.
Smyth was named Player-of-the-Match award winner when the Royal County defeated Dublin to win the Leinster u-16 A title in April.
Joint-winner of the 2018 LGFA John West Féile Peile na nÓg skill stars competition, Smyth was previously Meath’s Player-of-the-Year in the u-12 and u-14 grades.
A Leinster Schools final medallist in 2017, 2018 and 2019, Smyth also won the Player-of-the-Match award when Skryne defeated Moylagh to win the Masita Cup final last month.

Smyth's list of honours might not be complete as she still has an u-15 final and the MFC to complete for Skryne this year.
Unfortunately Smyth and Meath were beaten by Galway in the Girls All-Ireland u-16 A FC final where the winners Ellen Power excelled and it is no surprise that she picked up the Connacht award.
Cork’s Eimear O’Donovan won the Munster equivalent, while Cavan’s Saoirse Kiernan is the Ulster winner.
All four players will receive their awards at the TG4 Allstar awards banquet, in association with Lidl, to be held at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday 16th November.
Duleek/Bellewstown's Monica McGuirk is already in line to pick the Allstar for best goalkeeper at those awards, and the Meath shotstopper is also in the running for the Intermediate Player-of-the-Year prize.

Monica McGuirk is in line for two awards at the Allstar banquet.

McGuirk is nominated for the Player-of-ther-Year accolade along side Tipperary superstar Aishling Moloney and her Premier County team mate Orla O'Dwyer, who, bizarrely, despite being nominated as a player of the year is not nominated for an Allstar.
